National Science Foundation selects CTS
to study techniques to exploit vehicle-
infrastructure integration data
The University of Virginia's Center for Transportation
Studies was recently selected by the National Science
Foundation to conduct a project called "Research Foundation to Support Cooperative Infrastructure/Vehicle Surface Transportation Control/Management." NSF will provide $325,000 to support this research effort. UVA's investigators, Dr. Brian Smith and Dr. Brian Park of the Civil Engineering Department, and Dr. William Scherer and Dr. Jennifer Farver of the Systems and Information Engineering Department, will investigate innovative transportation management techniques that take advantage of the rich data environment becoming available with the development of vehicle-infrastructure integration (VII).
