Biographical Information

John Miller works for the Virginia Transportation Research Council, is a licensed professional engineer, and holds a B.S. in electrical engineering and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Virginia.  He has conducted research in the areas of transportation safety, operations, and planning and has previously served as a secondary school teacher with the U.S. Peace Corps at the Collège d'Enseignement de Mandji, Gabon.  His research has been published in ASCE's Journal of Transportation Engineering, TRB's Transportation Research Record, and MapleTech.  He has served as adjunct faculty at Piedmont Virginia Community College (Electronics Department and the Business Technologies Department) and the University of Virginia (Civil and Environmental Engineering Department and Systems Engineering Department) both located in Charlottesville, Virginia.  John is an Eno Foundation Fellow.

In research projects and teaching, John continues to find that he has quite a bit to learn from practitioners and technicians who have insights that one cannot find written in research articles.  Thus an emphasis is placed on listening to these individuals.
