Biographical Information
Jane Carlson is the Program Coordinator for the Virginia LTAP. Jane started her consulting business in the UK in 1993 after accumulating more than 15 years’ experience working in several international companies in the areas of public relations, marketing, office administration and sales. Since moving to the United States in 2003, Jane has worked with faculty in the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Virginia and the UVa Health System as a consultant, particularly in the areas of writing, coaching, indexing and a diverse range of work in the language arena.
During her varied career in the UK, Jane has worked in a number of industries with positions including Special Assistant to the CEO of Blackwell Publishing; Program Facilitator to the CEO of Horwath Franchising, UK’s largest franchise consultancy; Export Manager for the British Potato Council; and Public Relations Manager for the UK Atomic Energy Authority. In these roles, she has gained great experience in areas including budgeting, database management, event planning, project management, general administration, office management and conference organization.
